Principal

"Dear Stowe students and families,

I am extremely honored to introduce myself as the new Principal at Stowe Elementary School. I am excited to work alongside all the dedicated and talented staff to nurture the Bulldog Pride that is grounded with the P.A.W.S. values- Practice Kindness; Act Responsibly, Work Hard, & Stay Safe.

On a personal note, my husband, Dan, and I have lived in Duluth's Woodland neighborhood for 16 years and have two boys- Zeke (11) and Ben (7). Ben is starting in the 2nd grade at Lowell Elementary and Zeke is starting middle school at Ordean East Middle School. Dan is an Art Director at Maurice's. The boys feel it’s important to share that we also have an old dog (Miley), two younger cats (Tiki and Beanie), and an assortment of laying hens (Fuzzball, Snowball, Cinnamon, Wingsaver, Summer, and Buddy). We love Duluth and the many outdoor activities offered here.

Professionally, I bring 23 years of educational experience to Stowe. Last year I was the assistant principal at Lowell Elementary which was an amazing experience (an added bonus was having my kids there). Prior to that, I’ve worked in the Cloquet School District as a Special Education Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Equity and Restorative Practices Coordinator. Through all these roles, I’ve developed a leadership style that is student-centered and focuses on relationships and equity.

I know I have much to learn about Stowe and the Gary New Duluth community, but am thrilled to be here. Already, I’ve felt such a warm welcome from staff, parents, and community members, which I appreciate. To the students- I can’t wait to meet all of you and will enjoy learning from you🙂 To parents/caregivers- know that my door is always open and I look forward to partnering with you so we can best support your child’s educational experiences at Stowe."

With Kindest Regards,

Nathan Anderson
